In a joint venture between Softconn, Alibaba and Foxconn, you will soon be able to buy a humanoid robot like Peppa, shown below, for only $1600.
It isnt quite human yet and don’t expect AI so advanced that it can do all the things you might eventually want, but it can converse with you and move and live autonomously. Presumably plugging itself into a wall socket when it needs feeding.
I think this could represent a major milestone, the moment when robots finally become available to the wider public.
You only need to worry if it/he/she arrives on a bad ass motorcycle and starts talking to you in an deep Austrian accent.
